We’re all creative beings. We all have passions, ideas + desires inside of us.
Do you think of yourself as creative?
Most of us don’t. We see creativity as art, and then we label ourselves as not creative because we don’t draw, paint or dance in the ways we see when we look at “creative” people. But creativity isn’t limited to art. It’s not only about painting, photography, writing, dancing and the things that we traditionally think are creative.
We all have our own creative genius, Creativity can be everything and anything.
You ARE creative.
What does creativity have anything to do with healing?
When we’re young, we have a natural sense of wonder and curiosity.
But as we grow up, we hear stories about what it means to be good enough and what the world is “really” like that limit our sense of possibility.
We are conditioned to become achievers, and in this process many of us lose touch with our creative inner being. If we experience trauma, our body also keeps us locked in a hypervigilant state where creativity is not even available to us.
The truth is, we can all reconnect to our inner creativity. In the process we reconnect with our authentic selves.
But first, we also need to learn to release the stories around what it is to be creative.
Think about it, what comes to mind when you hear the word: creative? You probably automatically think of a painter, a musician, or an artist of some kind.
Creativity is so much more than that!
Creativity also looks like:
- Making a post on social media
- Singing
- Doodling
- Coloring
- Playing a game with your kids
- Coming up with a new idea
- Sharing what inspires you with someone you love
- Making a garden, or planting a tree
- Rearranging a room in your house
- Writing a letter to someone
- Making a vision board
- Build something
- Cooking a new dish
- Putting together a new outfit
- Discovering a new hike
Creativity really is therapy. Give these new things a try and notice how good you feel!
